Winter down the dirt road

It is definitely winter down this dirt road.  We rely on a good snowy winter to get us through the dry summers, so I can't complain about the snowstorm that came through yesterday.  That white stuff is what waters the hay fields to grow the hay to feed the livestock through yet another winter.  Around and around we go.  It is just part of life here around 8000 feet elevation.

I was slow getting my containers gathered up this fall, so this chair and pot will have to wait for spring to move. The snow and ice really gathers by my front door.

These boys were out making the most of the sunshine today. They like to lay flat on their sides to soak up the rays, but when they stand up, the snow and ice clings to their fur.

The chicks I bought in the fall are nearly fully grown.  They get the run of the attached greenhouse until it gets warm enough for me to start planting in there.

I am getting anxious for spring to come so I can get back into the garden, but I definitely can't complain about the sunsets we get.

I hope wherever you are wintering, you are snug and warm.
